Iran Focus

Tehran, Iran, Mar. 01 – Iran has executed three Arab activists in the south-western oil city of Ahwaz, according to local dissidents reached by telephone.

The three individuals were identified as Atef Moussawi, Anour Moussawi, and Jalal Nasseri.

Dissidents said that the three were accused of involvement in the recent bombings in the Arab-dominated city.

The three prisoners were executed Tuesday morning in Karoon Prison.

Ethnic Arabs despise what they describe as the central government’s discriminatory and repressive policy against them in the oil-rich Khuzistan Province. Many Iranian officials and politicians have accused the United States, Britain, and exile opposition groups of stirring up unrest in the province.
